Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft.

Un nome preso da un film di fantascienza anni cinquanta e la voce che si trattasse nientemeno che dei Beatles sotto mentite spoglie. E certo il primo album soprattutto, datato 1976,  sembrava venire dritto dal 1967 beatlesiano. Quella voce, sciocca ma intrigante, e una serie di ottimi pezzi garantirono ai Klaatu un certo successo all’esordio. Poi va beh, si persero, perché così doveva andare evidentemente e perché le successive prove non furono all’altezza di quell’oscuro gioiello dal titolo 3:47 EST.
Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft, brano d’apertura di quell’album, fu un biglietto da visita forse fin troppo promettente. E merita ancora oggi d’essere riascoltato, perché nonostante il ricco arrangiamento pieno di citazioni, non ha mai perso l’originale freschezza.
